Booking Only Courses That Begin With a W is a Winner for Golf Groups

The number of different Myrtle Beach golf package combinations is nearly endless, so sometimes it’s fun to use a little creativity when deciding which courses to play on your next trip.

Founders Group International’s “All Inclusive” offer, which includes range balls, lunch and two beverages of your choice (draft beer or fountain drink), allows you to choose among 21 courses, providing for a little artistic leeway without sacrificing any quality.

If you are planning a three-day “All Inclusive” trip, consider playing only courses that begin with a W.

Hang in there as I walk you through what I like to call the “World Wild Will” package, a hypothetical trip that will take you to World Tour, Wild Wing Avocet and Willbrook.

Two of the three courses are located along the Central Strand, making travel exceedingly easy, and it’s well worth the 20-mile drive to play the Dan Maples designed Willbrook. Here is a closer look at the layouts the “World Wild Will” package offers.

— Comprised of 18 holes inspired by some of the game’s greatest courses, World Tour (pictured right) is one of the Myrtle Beach area’s coolest experiences. With holes that replicate Amen Corner at Augusta National, No. 1 and 9 at St. Andrews, and the Postage Stamp at Royal Troon, among others, World Tour allows you to walk in the footsteps of the game’s legends. Best of all, while it’s a replica course, the layout absolutely works.

— Wild Wing Avocet should be on every list of Myrtle Beach’s most underrated courses. Golfers seemed to forget about Wild Wing when the Woodstork and Falcon courses closed in 2006. That was a mistake. Avocet, which single tees throughout the day, remains a treat to play. From the drivable par 4, 14th hole to the double green holes 6 and 17 share, a round at Avocet is a joy. — Located in Pawleys Island, Willbrook (pictured right) allows golfers to enjoy a taste of South Carolina’s lowcountry. Playing through soaring live oak trees draped in Spanish moss, wetlands and alligators galore, Willbrook delivers natural beauty and a good time. The course opens with a dogleg right that is one of the area’s toughest starts and closes with a 471-yard par 5 that gives you a chance to finish with a flourish.

World Wild Will isn’t an “official” golf package, but you can book the three layouts together as part of the All Inclusive and Rewards packages, and I’d highly recommend the trio for your next trip.
