Championship Course – #2
The inspiration for this par 5 was taken from the 10th hole at the Cypress Point Golf Club on California’s Monterey Peninsula.
PAR 5 | HCP 3
- Black: 491 yards
- Gold: 472 yards
- Silver: 462 yards
- Green: 421 yards
Details: A relatively short par 5, this hole requires a tee shot that avoids the fairway bunker guarding the right-hand corner. From there, long hitters may be able to reach the elevated green in two…but all must stay to the right: any shot to the left will go down a steep embankment.
History: Cypress Point is frequently referred to as Alister Mackenzie’s masterpiece. The tricky terrain, coupled with deceptively straightforward greens, pack enough challenge per foot that Mackenzie deemed it unnecessary for Cypress Point to be any longer than 6,536 yards.
